PART two: SOAK THE RICH
The US economy is collapsing into the Great Depression of the 1930s, and no one understands why. The big industrialists believe that the economy obeys supernatural laws and will eventually recover on its own. They accuse Roosevelt and his New Deal of tyranny. The New Dealers provocatively call themselves Liberals and their opponents Conservatives.
In the end, the New Deal is a failure. But the outbreak of the Second World War, with its avalanche of public spending, gives the economy a major boost. The conservatives have lost the battle of ideas, and American capitalism is now regulated by a strong and powerful US-government.
