In December 1995, France experienced the most massive strike since May 1968. While public employees were revolting against a vast overhaul of the social protection system proposed by the Juppé government, the rest of us were bending over backwards and struggling to get to work in the freezing cold. France that strikes against France that works. Public sector versus private sector... A strike that left a double mark on people's minds and on Alain Juppé's career.
