Chapter 3: Let’s Make America Great Again (1974–1980)
A moral crisis, an industrial crisis, an economic crisis… In America, nothing is going right, and Americans are depressed. Under Ronald Reagan, conservatives fought fiercely against feminists and the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). They took control of the gun lobby. They stoked anger against “welfare recipients.” They organized a tax revolt in California. They won the support of the Christian right and the evangelical movement (Moral Majority).
The MAGA movement was launched. No one could stop it anymore.
